Many people grew “pandemic hair” in 2020, but one West Middle School student finally got his cut… all for a good cause.
Ethan Gomez is a seventh grade student at West Middle School. Back in 2020, Ethan had an idea: He was growing to keep growing out his hair and one day, he would get it cut and donate it to Wigs For Kids, an organization that makes wigs for children with illnesses that cause hair loss.
Not only that, but he was also growing it out in honor of his maternal and paternal grandmothers, both of whom passed away from cancer.
Fast forward to 2023, and while most students were enjoying a day off from school, Ethan and his mom took a trip down to The Hair Kitchen in the Oakdale Commons to get just over 12 inches of hair cut off. Some buzzes of the clippers and a few snip snips of the scissors later, and Ethan was rocking a new hairstyle that stops just short of his shoulders and a bag of hair that is going to help boost the confidence of a child going through a tough time.
